The post-war union of a paratrooper and a fur seamstress produced, exactly nine months after their Christmas Day 1946 Wedding. Born into an Ontario French Canadian family with solid catholic values, afforded me a happy childhood. Dad retired from INCO with 30 years service, while Mom was mostly a stay –at-home homemaker and part-time dressmaker. In my mid-teens, I encountered the 60’s. I was the only girl with a driver’s license at 16. Really popular with all the girls, especially on Sunday and with the family car. Married by 18, divorced with two girls by 30. Attended Cambrian College in Bilingual secretarial course. After two girls were grown up, I returned to school to get my Grade 12 Diploma. I graduated in 85. I attended 2 years of HVAC at Humber College in Toronto. Third year was to specialize in solar power, but course was removed and I came home to Sudbury. I attended Cambrian College in Accommodation & Hospitality. I was involved in Canadian Diabetes Association, Parents Without Partners and Sudbury Regional Soccer Association serving numerous positions over the years. In 90, I remarried. I lived in Gowganda, ON, Loring, ON, Harvey Station, NB, Whitecourt, AB, and Vancouver, BC and back to Sudbury. I worked along side of my husband in lumbering and residency management. I attended Career Development Institute’s Vancouver Campus where I graduated with 92%. In 2000, I took in adult foreign students from Africa attending Boréal College in Sudbury. I took care of ailing husband for 4 years and sold house after he passed away in 2002. I worked for local Telemarketing Company for 4 years. Presently, I am taking care of my elderly mother, which is a full time job. I am a proud grandmother of 3 loving children. | | |
